This is a genuine tooth from a Megalodon shark discovered and polished by a diver from North Carolina.

The megalodon was a member of an extinct species of megatooth shark that is considered to be the largest shark (as well as the largest fish) that ever lived. Fossils attributed to megalodon have been found dating from the 23 million to 2.5 million years ago. The word megalodon, a compound of Greek root words, means “giant tooth” (Britannica, "Megalodon").

The two additional photos shown below demonstrate the size of the jaws of the Megalodon, and the rows of its teeth (NC State University, "How Big Was the Megalodon Shark." Brittanica, "Understanding Megalodon").

A custom display stand for this piece is available for an additional $95 (see photo).

Domestic shipping included. International shipping quoted separately.
